The Merger and a New Chapter

On 11 April 2016, Challenger Institute of Technology was merged with Polytechnic West to form South Metropolitan TAFE. This consolidation, part of a broader reform of TAFE in Western Australia, created one of the state’s most diverse training providers. Today, South Metropolitan TAFE carries forward the legacy of Challenger Institute of Technology, serving over 25,000 students annually across multiple campuses and continuing to offer more than 300 qualifications.
